Žilavka, Blatina, but also Trnjak, and Vranac, all indigenous varieties associated with Herzegovina, are all grown in several vineyards in a location called Domanovići, along with plantings of internationally renowned Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Dedicated to expressing their winemaking heritage, Vina Domano started to rebuild the tradition of these parts back in 1996. Today, it’s a modern winery equipped with a cellar, knowledge, and a passion for making the finest wines. Still in the cellar, proudly displayed, stands officially the largest wood barrel in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a 16230 litres large oak barrel. Yet, together with many international recognitions, Vina Domano is probably most recognized for the making of the first sparkling wine made in Herzegovina. It was made under the Champenoise method from the Žilavka variety.

Domano is the name of the first Herzegovinian sparkling wine. It is produced from the grape variety Žilavka using the classic method of fermentation in the bottle. When vegetal undertones and freshness of Žilavka meet with yeasty notes of secondary fermentation, some unique bubbles are created. Expressing the unknown aspect of Žilavka variety.
