Last name “Kos” is common in Zelina, a vineyard country close to Croatian capital. Kos could be translated as a blackbird, or Merula in Latin.

Red wine is uncommon in Zelina, on the other hand. Zelina subregion is famous for it’s light and refreshing white variety, called Kraljevina. This small garage winery grows red varieties as well as white, and in addition, their primary white wine is not Kraljevina, but Pinot Blanc.
