Žilavka, Blatina, but also Trnjak, and Vranac, all indigenous varieties associated with Herzegovina, are all grown in several vineyards in a location called Domanovići, along with plantings of internationally renowned Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Dedicated to expressing their winemaking heritage, Vina Domano started to rebuild the tradition of these parts back in 1996. Today, it’s a modern winery equipped with a cellar, knowledge, and a passion for making the finest wines. Still in the cellar, proudly displayed, stands officially the largest wood barrel in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a 16230 litres large oak barrel. Yet, together with many international recognitions, Vina Domano is probably most recognized for the making of the first sparkling wine made in Herzegovina. It was made under the Champenoise method from the Žilavka variety.

Premium Žilavka is a product of the selection of the best bunches of grapes from the best positions in the vineyards. Yield is reduced by “green harvest” to maximize the quality of the grapes. Yellow fruit in combination with yellow flowers, anise seeds, fennel, and pine. Complex and intensive, medium-bodied at the palate with a creamy texture and long finish.
