Lacman Nektar Amfora

An extensive 200-day maceration on the skins in 600-liter amphoras is followed by nearly two years of refinement in barrique. The wine presents almost caramel-like amber color, yet it vibrates with an almost sparkly vitality. The nose is pronounced, initially unveiling dry orange and grapefruit rind aromas before the influence of wood introduces creamy and sweet vanilla notes.

This wine’s aromatic profile is a dynamic mosaic that evolves with every swirl of the glass, alternating between the resurgence of fruit with clean quince and ripe apple, and the warmth of baking spices, creating an endless olfactory dance. On the palate is invigorating with its beautiful acidity and full body. The perfect tang from the tannins and the long finish reminiscent of freshness of grapefruit and tartness of quince affirm its complexity. The wine is rich, superbly dry and provides a substantial oily mouthfeel. To fully engage with this wine’s many layers, it is best served at 14 to 16 degrees Celsius in a large Burgundy glass. Consider it alongside a young lamb roast abundant in thyme, some aromatic aged hard cheese, or even a medium-bodied cigar leaning towards sweet spices, to complement its profound character.
